Texturing your ACA33 v3.1 and other ACA Racers

DOWNLOAD TEMPLATES

For ACA LIGHT main sail and jib, use the v3.0 templates (other templates are the same as v3.1)

For textures migration from ACA33 Racer v3.0 to v3.1 tips, see down below.

SAILS TEMPLATES

1. Edit template in Photoshop

  • Create your design in photoshop using our templates
  • Save as .tga format with 32bit and you are ready to import into SL your textures.
  • Please keep the ACA33 brand on your new sails. Thank you!

2. Edit ACA33 sails in Second Life:

  • Import each hull or sail texture (for ACA LIGHT, main sail and jib, one texture per sail side).
  • Rezz your ACA33 Racer.
  • To see the sails, sit on the boat and issue the /1 set showsail all in chat command or find the transparent prim. Then, right click to edit.
  • Click ” Edit linked parts” and “Select Texture” from the edit object menu (see pic bellow) and touch only the side of the prim you want to replace with the new texture. Never replace all the sides because prim sides for the borders are usually transparent.
  • Select the texture and replace it with new one from your library
  • Do the same for all sides or sails till you have your new sail design completed
  • Take a copy of your new ACA33 Racer back to your inventory and use this new copy from now on. (We suggest that you keep the original as a backup)

SCULPTED COCKPIT & FLOOR TEMPLATE

This is the texture template for the sculpted floor of the ACA33 V2.5. Looks simple, but just take it down to photoshop and fill the boxes with your texture or color and bring it back up to SL…easy peasy….

* Offset H = -0.2815 (and 5 as 4th decimal *is* relevant!)
** This offset is for a template similar to old v2.5* one, but with deck at left and hull surface as a whole area at right. Keeping the old template, hull partitioned in 2 halves, use Offset H around zero (0.015). Mainsail mega prim is 24×8 and not the old whole size of 24×7.8m. Jib is exactly the sum of old two prims: 18×10.ok
*** Pay attention to the limits of the central, undistorted area at each side of sail.

These textures are given free for the use of ACA sailors for the sole purpose of textureing the ACA33 3.*. They must not be used for other boats or boat builders unless with the express written consent of ACA management or 9th.com. All rights reserved.

TEXTURES MIGRATION V3.0 TO V3.1

Only jib and mainsail textures are affected. Spinnaker and hull did not change.

Double sided “butterfly” texture necessary for all sails.

Mainsail

Just add a little space between sides.
Proportions totally kept, horizontal and vertical.
Gaps for a 1024×1024 pixels wide texture:
top 11, bottom 0, between sides 24 pixels.

Jib

Just deform heigth to 90%.
Proportions deformed to 100% wide but 90% tall.
Gaps for a 1024×1024 pixels wide texture:
top 60, bottom 53, between sides 2 pixels.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Mesh is coming to SL and many new ways to build stuff, along with that. To start with, the above deformation for ACA jib texture came from the only usable and available mega-prim at the time being the one with sizes XYZ = <1, 10, 20>, while we would want XYZ = <1, 10, 18>.

From now on, regions already running the new Release candidate servers, like Second Life RC Magnum 11.08.02.237549, and future servers, will allow anyone to build prims as big as <64, 64, 64> and also to edit that XYZ = <1, 10, 20> to XYZ = <1, 10, 18>.

So if you have a double texture for jib like the one below, you can use it without deforming it to 90% height, provided you do that with the prim itself.

Proportions were kept for ACA Micro and Tiny so same textures could be applied to any of them. To change all to same proportions, numbers for jib prim Z size are:

ACA v3.1          20.00000 to 18.00000
ACA Tiny          7.40000 to 6.66000
ACA Micro          3.20000 to 2.88000

(ACA LIGHT has not changed)

Official ACA boats released will not change for now, since many changes are coming with meshes.
