** Press Realease** ACA/Costa Rica Challenge

After negotiations between the ACA management team and Costa Rica Sims a new and exciting Race series has been established.
On the 12th  of September a new and exciting race series will be held on the Costa Rica sims. This will consist of two sets of racing. One series for single handed ACA boats, and the other for crewed team events. The prize money has been set at an unprecedented $L100, 000 for the weekend!

There will be as you may expect a series of preliminary races leading to an exciting final set of races!
The Costa Rica Sims are a set of 60 interlinked residential sims that has proven to be one of SL’s success stories. The main sim will be http://slurl.com/secondlife/Puntarenas%201/57/155/27

WARNING TO SAILORS.
this will not be an easy point and click race series. We will follow the full ISAF (2009-2012) rules. The official calling notice will be in the http://slsailing.org forum. The race wind will be set at a tactically challenging angle and speed. The sims themselves will be, by their very nature laggy, there is not must we can or would want to change to this. These sims are people’s homes and their interest must be paramount.

The team racing will consist of a skipper and three crew. You may have 2 back up crew member to avoid problems with absences from the series.

ACA Costa Rica Challenge TEAMS.
In order to apply for the Team Race series Teams will need to appear before a ACA Costa Rica Challenge  race committee officer and make the following statement:   “We hereby apply to race in the ACA Costa Rica Challenge . We are familiar with the  ISF Rules 10,11,13, and 18. We promise to abide by these rules. If the ACA Costa Rica Challenge Committee determines by our actions on the water that we are not familiar with these rules we acknowledge that we could be dismissed from Cup competition.”   If your team application is accepted by the race committee officer he/she will give your team further instructions.

ACA Costa Rica Challenge INDIVIDUAL
In order to apply for the Individual Race series Skippers will need to appear before a ACA Costa Rica Challenge  race committee officer and make the following statement:   “I hereby apply to race in the ACA Costa Rica Challenge . We are familiar with the  ISF Rules 10,11,13, and 18. I promise to abide by these rules. If the ACA Costa Rica Challenge Committee determines by our actions on the water that we are not familiar with these rules we acknowledge that I could be dismissed from Cup competition.”   If your application is accepted by the race committee officer he/she will give your team further instructions.

NOTE
You will need to actively apply for the races, please send a notecard with your name on it so we can send you an application form.

The ACA management team will be actively looking for help from those with a working knowledge of the ISAF rules. So if you’re up to the challenge please let Quirky Torok know.
