New features to the ACA33:
The first of these features is wind shadowing and leebowing. Your ACA33 will now slow as a result of your position in relation to other boats in the fleet and the position of the wind. Windshadowing reduces the wind by 25%. Removing yourself from your opponent’s wind shadow or the dirty wind spilled off the back of their mainsail will allow you to bring the boat back up to your optimum speed.
The other feature that we have added is protest shouting. You are now free to either say “protest” or to use a gesture to say it for you. The ACA33 will listen for your call and shout the protest out loud for all to hear as required under the sailing rules.
We would like to thank Jacqueline Trudeau & Hans Zinnemann for working on these updates.
The last but not least a new hull design by Kasolai Nighbor.
Don’t forget to enjoy the view from the new poseball all the way at the top of the mast
Fixes: wind numbers not showing on the HUD for MAC users.
9th.com proudly announce the ACA33 America’s Cup Class Racer for Second Life.
Using a combination of physical vehicle and avatar attachment, the ACA33 Racer offers the best of both worlds – *realistic* sailing for you and up to 5 crewmembers in a beautifully rendered, fully detailed model of the America’s Cup Class racing yacht.
Features of the ACA33 Racer include:
– Can be sailed either solo or in collaboration with a crew.
– Realistic sailing. Based on the ingenious sailing mechanics originally devised by Kanker Greenacre and adapted specifically for the ACA33 Racer, it *really sails* using the SL wind. Voice or HUD commands trim the sails – jib and main – individually for optimal performance under sail. Wind shadowing and leebowing, protest shouting, heeling, drifting, in irons — all the sailing fun and excitement – it’s in there.
– Onscreen HUD, designed with the look and feel of the digital instrumentation of the real life America’s Cup Class boats, provides button control for the common boat handling commands and display of environmental conditions. The full featured HUD allows fine tuned control over each sail, allowing the seasoned skipper access to such advanced sailing concepts as wing and wing, jib backfill, etc.
– Customizable. A separate RGB blender HUD allows limitless hull coloring possibilities. A modifiable script for changing the default camera location and angle. Modify permissions allows you to make your ACA33 Racer truly your own.
– Artificial wind strength and direction commands for overriding the sometimes fluky SL winds. S
– SLSF racewind compatibility, catches Race Wind automatically.
– Wind shadowing and leebowing: Your ACA33 will slow as a result of your position in relation to other boats in the fleet and the position of the wind. Removing yourself from your opponent’s wind shadow or the dirty wind spilled off the back of their mainsail will allow you to bring the boat back up to your optimum speed. Windshadowing reduces the wind by 25%.
– Protest shouting: You are free to either say “protest” or to use a gesture to say it for you. The ACA33 will listen for your call and shout the protest out loud for all to hear as required under the sailing rules.
– Accommodations for your crew in custom designed full motion animations positioned about the cockpit and deck. Yes, of course these poseballs can be hidden.
– Since sim crossings can be unpredictable, Copy and modify permissions.
Main Components:
ACA33 Racer – consists of sails, keel, crew poseballs and sailing physics and control scripts – 25 prims.
ACA33 Attachment - also rezzable inworld for display purposes – consists of the hull, deck, masts, standing rigging, cockpit, and other details – 180 prims
*PLEASE NOTE! To re-emphasize, please understand the ACA33 Racer is a combination vehicle that is ridden and boat attachment that is worn. When sailing, the boat becomes part of you, just like your prim hair or shoes. You cannot move about the boat when it is underway.

Hi Florencia,
I just bought an ACA 33. I don’t know how soon I will be able to find the time to learn how to sail it, but in the meantime – since it is so beautiful – I would like to display it with its sails up. I know how to place the attachment in the landscape, but not how to show the sails, and I haven’ t been able to find that information.
Thank you,
Patch
Drop your ACA32 Racer on the water, sit on the skipper’s red ball and issue the /1 showsail chat command. Then, drop your attachment on the water and align it with the racer using the edit tool.
Hi Florencia,
I just bought an ACA 33, and for some reason I don’t have a red skipper’s ball. Is there any way I can have you provide me with one?
Thank you very much. This boat is magnificent!
Pi
Please issue this command in chat:
/1 show
Let me know if that worked. Cheers, Flo
Hello Flo,
Someone told me there were templates available for us custom paint our ACA 33s. If so, could you direct me to this site? Thank in advance.
Baby
